In this first photo we can see what appears to clearly be a cushion cut center diamond, set on what looks like a simple white gold or platinum band. 

This next photo gives us a better view of the side of the ring, showing us that it has a pave band.

This last image really seals the deal on the pave situation.

What style setting is Lindsay Lohan’s engagement ring?

We might not know every last detail, but it is confirmed that Lindsay Lohan’s ring was designed by celebrity jeweler Harry Winston.

Lohan’s post shows a spectacular cushion cut diamond set on a thin band encrusted with small diamonds. The band appears to either be white gold or platinum.

Pavé diamond rings (pronounced ‘pah-vay’) can broadly be thought of as a ring setting ‘paved’ with diamonds – lots of small diamonds covering the whole ring, including sometimes the underside of the band. To create the effect, a jeweler will drill a series of holes into the ring setting, place the diamonds into the holes and then create tiny prongs, or just beads of metal, over the edges of the diamonds, securing the stones in place.
