Independent also have a selection of less common diamond shapes in-store, which many smaller jewellers don’t.

Independent Jewelers is priced at the lower end of the market, and as a result, many of their rings use diamonds that have been graded lower for quality factors like quality and clarity.
If we look at the quality of the diamond used in a typical 1 carat ring from them, it is a stone which will have significant flaws which are likely to impact the beauty of the diamond.

However, if you look at what J colour and SI2 clarity diamonds actually look like, you can see that SI2 clarity diamonds almost all have significant inclusions that.
One other thing to know is that most of the diamonds on Independent Jewellers website have been graded by organisations whch are likely to have lower standards than the GIA which grades the stones on the link above. It’s possible therefore that the 1 carat ring above could actually be closer to an I1 clarity, which means it is more likely to look like these diamonds.
